It has been said that Golf Professionals wear many hats, but few men in the history of the PGA have a closet stacked with as much headgear as Utah Golf Hall of Fame member, Ernie Schneiter Jr.
As a player, Ernie excelled from the first time he picked up a golf club, winning the Utah Junior Open as a thirteen year-old.
And as a Professional he won the Utah Open, the Idaho Open, the Rocky Mountain Section Championship twice while also competing in the PGA National Championship.
After jobs at Oquirrh Hills in Tooele, the Ogden Golf and Country Club, Blue Lakes Country Club in Idaho, and Ben Lomond, Ernie assumed ownership of the 9-hole Riverside Golf Course in Ogden, Utah and built it into an 18-hole course by designed the back nine and renaming it Schneiter’s Riverside.
Enlightened by his architectural acumen, Ernie purchased 150 acres in Syracuse, Utah and designed another 18-hole golf course which he then named, Schneiter’s Bluff.
A quiet, personable, and unassuming man, Ernie Schneiter does not gloat or boast of his many awards and achievements.
That is left to those of us who stand in awe of one of the living legends of Utah Golf History.
Please listen here to some of the exploits of his long, illustrious career as a PGA Professional.

This will be priceless for our family for generations to come.
Jon
Thank you Jon.
And, I also recorded over an hour of sound and video of your father that I will include in my documentary production of “The History of Golf in Utah”
I will also post the video, with sound, on YouTube for posterity and history to see and hear which, I hope, will last forever.
Be safe,
Jeff Waters
