On a eagerly anticipated Sunday morning, which under normal expectations should have foretold the magnificence of all a final round of the Masters is and can be.
Instead began much early than expected, under ominous conditions with darkening clouds, gusty winds and the threat of severe weather, cancelling a final round contest that had all the makings of an epic battle for the grandest prize in all of sports.
In the end it was as if Mother Nature knew, and what the sporting world longed for, that there is indeed redemption for those who labor long enough and hard enough, and held off her outbursts long enough for Tiger Woods to play his way deeper into the pages of history.
Sunday at the Masters has always produced unmatched theater, especially on the back nine.
But no one could have divined the spectacle that unfolded amongst the stately pines and emerald fairways of the Augusta National Golf Club as Tiger Woods relentlessly and methodically re-established his greatness and etched his name and exploits more decisively into the record books of a sport that had brutishly cast him aside and left him consigned to legends of a bygone era.
On a leaderboard filled with names that came of age under the radiance of his past achievements, Tiger vanquished demons past and present and reestablished the conversation that he again be considered as the Greatest Player to have ever played the game.
Listen to his final interview on Sunday evening as he wears his fifth green jacket, wins his fifteenth major championship and continues his pursuit of golf immortality.
