Talking Golf With The Golf Guy-Season 4 Episode 16 Friday At The Open-Who Owns Pebble Beach?

Pebble Beach and the Monterey Peninsula are home to some of the most exotic and expensive vistas, beaches, resorts, private homes, villas, shops and golf courses anywhere on earth.

But who owns the property now?

We know it was originally part of Mexico and then deeded in the early 1800’s as part of a land grant to Fabian Barreto.

It was bought in 1860 by rancher and dairy farmer, David Jacks who raised his cows and made his cheese that first made the area famous.

He then sold the entire parcel to the Pacific Improvement Company, a real estate component of the Central Pacific Railroad who would develop it as a destination resort.

But it was Samuel Morse, the so-called “Duke of Del Monte” who managed the property for the Pacific Improvement Company and, eventually purchased the property, whose vision and ingunity, propelled it to the landmark it is today.

I have posted a new leaderboard and update along with more history of Pebble Beach and who the owners are now.

The answer might surprise you.
