Talking Golf With The Golf Guy-Season 4 Episode 18 Friday At The Open-Major Championship Golf Courses

The world’s sporting spotlight is shinning brightly on Pebble Beach Golf Links this week as it plays host to its sixth United States Open Championship.

Amid all the hoopla its easy to forget that this is a special occurrence and a special place.

Major Golf Championship do not come often to the West. In fact of the 423 majors that have been contested in recorded history only 32 have been played west of the Mississippi River.

Of course the Masters is played at the same golf course in Augusta, Georgia and the Open Championship is played in the British Islands.

But still.

Even more startling is, most of the Majors played out west are mostly played on just four golf courses.

I have posted a new podcast outlining the history of major championships contested and the sites they were played at along with the final leaderboard from round two of the 2019 United States Open Championship.

Thanks for listening.
